Q: Hi Playground! I would love some recommendations for exploring NYC with my 13-year-old nephew from North Carolina. He’s a drummer and loves live music. Any thoughts?? ~ Thanks, LF

A: Hi LF! A music loving teen? You’ve come to the right place! Georgette and I both have 13-year-olds who fall squarely into this category.

6 Rocking Reasons to See SCHOOL OF ROCK THE MUSICAL on Broadway

School of Rock The Musical

We came, we saw, we rocked! Thanks to The Broadway Collection I was able to see a preview matinee of Broadway’s newest family-friendly show School of Rock the Musical with my 12-year-old son, Aidan. This new musical feels like a rock concert — ie, loud and fun — and if our performance is any indication, it’s sure to be a favorite of anyone who enjoys music served up with a little bit of mayhem in true Rock and Roll style.

Aidan, a fan of the movie of the same name the musical is based on (note there’s no connection to the popular music schools of the same name), was cautiously optimistic heading to the show, thinking the play might pale in comparison to the film. By intermission he was completely sold on the musical, proclaiming: “Every bit of it is amazing!” I agree with him, School of Rock literally rocked from the opening number straight through to the curtain call — it was a blast.

Want to “Stick It To The Man” (which is a good thing, I promise)? Here are 6 rocking reasons to catch the newest play to hit the Great White Way:
