We’re dreaming of sunshine, sandy beaches, and beautiful deep blue seas, so we’re revving up one of our favorite features — 6 in the City! 1 amazing hotel + 2 great places to eat + 3 can’t miss things to see and do — with a look at one of Melissa’s favorite warm weather getaways last year, the Fairmont Mayakoba in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
Consider this your handy go-to-guides for the quickest route for travel fun!
1 Amazing Hotel
Fairmont Mayakoba is nestled into a unique location about 45 minutes south of Cancun on the Riviera Maya which combines rich mangrove and lush sand beach. You can traverse the 240 acres by bike or boat, and swim in multiple pools or the ocean, and snorkel, sail, or just play the day away.
Hello beach! (Yes, there’s waiter service — score!)
A boat dock facing the mangrove.
Our room was tucked into a casita and faced a waterway that threads through the mangrove.
2 Great Places to Eat
There are 5 fabulous restaurants on property, all run by celebrity chef Richard Sandoval. Although this isn’t an all-inclusive resort, you can choose to add a meal plan to your hotel stay.
At El Puerto restaurant, we loved the fusion of Asian and Latin cuisines, especially the wafer thin slices of Wagyu beef we got to cook on a hot rock.
We also loved the ceviches and guacamole at waterside La Laguna (also the site of a fantabulous breakfast buffet that was possibly the best we’ve ever had, serving up everything from unique juice blends and to chicken mole — everyday!)
3 Can’t Miss Activities and Sights
Don’t miss a visit to Playa del Carmen — where every night feels like a street party (and there’s plenty of fun photo ops)
The beach! It’s why you come to the Riviera Maya — so plan on spending some time relaxing on the sand and swimming in the sea.
