The annual Holiday Train Show at The New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) is a one of the highlights of the winter holiday season in New York City for families. Especially those with kids who are train fanatics (if you have kids who love Thomas the Train, or anything that moves on tracks, you know what we mean).

This year’s Holiday Train Show has a NYC theme and runs through January 15, 2018. Entrance fees start at $23 per adult during weekdays and $30 per adult on weekends and holidays (kids are $10 or $18) — but if you’ve tried to bring your family in the past, you know that securing tickets for prime times and then finding parking in the Bronx can be a freight-train-sized hassle.
Here’s a way to work around that— The Langham, New York, Fifth Avenue is introducing a special package that will make the trip fun for the whole family! It includes two nights’ accommodations in a swanky Deluxe Room or up, two passes for NYBG’s popular Holiday Train Show, and two round trip Metro-North tickets to Botanical Garden Station (so you get to take a train ride to the train show — and no car parking!). We talked to the hotel and they can arrange extra show and train tickets, too. Rates start at $845 USD + tax per night (think of it as a great holiday gift for the whole family). Visit the Offers section of The Langham website for all the details.
The 26th annual Holiday Train Show features the architectural icons of Midtown Manhattan (The Langham’s own neighborhood). Set within the spectacular Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, model trains travel past re-creations of iconic sites from all five boroughs of New York City, the Hudson River Valley, and other locations in New York State, artistically crafted by Paul Busse’s creative team at Applied Imagination.
There are 150 miniature models of the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, General Electric Building and St. Bartholomew’s Church, among other landmarks, including fun replicas of Coney Island, sure to be a kid pleaser, plus more than two dozen large-scale model trains and trolleys. Many of the real-life buildings are on view from the floor to ceiling windows in the hotel’s guest rooms.
