Looking for a fun indoor activity to keep the kids busy and cool on a hot summer day? Or need a break on a wet or cold afternoon? Palisades Climb Adventure, located indoors on Level 4 of the Palisades Center Mall in West Nyack, NY, offers a year-round, weather-proof challenge for families and adventurers of all ages.
The indoor ropes course stands 85 feet tall and provides adventure, thrills, and excitement for brave climbers. Since I’m not that person, my husband takes our Gilmore Girls there for a fun day out. The course has varying designs and degrees of difficulty and has a capacity for 75 climbers at a time. You can climb a tremor bridge, tension traverse, a vertical rope ladder, a quarter cargo net, a two line rope bridge, an alternating spaghetti handline and a three line lumber rope bridge. Each element includes a different ropes configuration such as bridges, tight ropes, loops and balance beams; obstacles present challenges of strength, balance and agility.
Younger children who are too young, small, or scared to go on the Adventure ropes course, can enjoy the Sky Tykes Ropes Course. This tot-friendly course for kids under 48″ has 10 elements to explore, climb and conquer.
Things to Know
A seat and chest harness is connected to a cable that keeps climbers on the track. Note: once your kid is hooked in with the harness and cable, they are not able to get off the ropes course track until they exit the course, so make sure they are up for the challenge. Kids have to be at least 4-years-old and at least 42″ ( 3’6″ ) with an adult or 48″ ( 4′ ) to participate. They must have on closed shoes to participate —no flip flops or sandals — and girls need to wear pants, leggings or shorts—skirts or dresses are not permitted on the ropes course.
