When I travel, especially with my children, I want a bag with lots of space. What I don’t want is a huge bag that seems like a bottomless black hole that leaves me searching for what I need. Organization is key and that’s why my new favorite travel bag is The Weekender from Birdling Bags. With it’s cleverly designed pockets and interior sections, the bag makes travel easier and much more stylish, whether you’re going on a quick weekend getaway or a week long trip,
I first noticed this bag on social media, and I was immediately drawn to the stylish, canvas design. Then I found out that the creators — Courtney Reenstra and Meagan Coomber — were local women (go Jersey girls!) and savvy moms, and I liked Birdling Bags even more.
The concept for Birdling Bags came after Courtney’s frustrating packing experience trying to juggle baby necessities on her first weekend away with her then 9 month old daughter. After brainstorming with Meagan, the two women decided to design something to make parents’ lives easier and Birding Bags was hatched.
The largest bag in Birdling’s collection, and the one that I have, is The Weekender ($225). With its three Nylon interior dividers and four exterior pockets (a must for easy access items for the kids and you), it can easily accommodate multiple family members.
Made of durable canvas, the bag comes in four stylish and modern colors (I love the unisex driftwood grey the best, and so does my husband) and has leather hand grip accent handles. You can sling it over your shoulder or wear it crossbody if you attach the extra shoulder strap.
Birdling Bags also offer smaller options for quick getaways (The Overnighter, which also comes in a waxed canvas) to day trips (aptly called The Daytripper) to a soon to be launched Mini Daytripper. They also offer an Essentials Kit bag to hold your toiletries. The made in the USA collection takes care of all your travel needs. Now all you need to do is plan a trip!
